Swords

Welcome to my cyber sword collection. Here you can find out they whys and wherefores of my collection and some links to interesting sites on the web to start your own collection!

How It All Began

Back about ten years ago, when I still lived and played in Southern California, a close friend of mine and I started to talk about what we would collect if we had the funds. Being of meager means at the time basically made this a purely theoretical conversation. But it was a way to pass the time when we got together.
As we both improved our means, the conversations we had held some years back, by then, began to take a more serious turn. My friend had always wanted to collect firearms and had pulled enough spare funds together to start a collection, including some support equipment so he could really 'get into it'.
My interests, being more solidly founded in the past, tended toward swords and armor. And since these things are not in current mass production, they also tended to be a bit more expensive. So, I was not able to start off on my collection at the same time.
However, when an opportunity came for me to move to Northern California, my friend could not resist starting me off with what would be a 'very expensive' going away present. He purchased a very nice replica of The Sword of El Cid. A short sword used by mounted knights of Spain. As I told him then, "You're starting something that will be very expensive for me to finish". To which he replied (with an evil grin), "Yes, I know".

Needless to say, we were both right and now my collection contains some 20 swords of various types and styles from various sources. Below are some descriptions of but a few. If you'd like to see more, I have posted photos of my entire collection for your review and enjoyment. Come by sometime and I'll introduce you 'personally'!
