Wine Tasting in Bordeaux

Last spring I joined a couple of other folks from work on a tour of the Bordeaux region of France. It was a great opportunity to sample some of the finest wines in the world, LONG before they are normally drinkable. We tasted some 150 wines over the five days of the tour. Fortunately, only about 20 of them were barrel samples, which, while a neat idea, really tasted BAD. Most of the wines we tasted will be 'drinkable' (per the winemakers) in 20 to 50 years! So you can imagine how they might not be so great just now. 1995 was a 'great year', however, and the chance to taste (and spit out) some of the most expensive wines in the world was an experience I'm glad I didn't miss.
While there, I also had a chance to stop in Paris and take the 'TGV' (the train that's as fast as flying). Just a little side trip on the way home ;-)
